Bernadine Wenzel, 70, of Wessington Springs, S.D., died early Tuesday morning April 2, 2013, at the Avera McKennan Hospital in Sioux Falls.
Funeral services were held Friday, April 5 at the United Methodist Church with Pastor Martin Avery officiating. Burial was in Prospect Hill Cemetery.
She was born on September 27, 1942 at Spencer, S.D. to Bernard and Irene (Franey) Clark. She graduated from Spencer High School in 1960 and preceded her education to cosmetology at Stewarts in Sioux Falls, S.D.
On January 31, 1961, she was united in marriage to Arthur Wenzel. They have three sons. She enjoyed watching her grandkids in the summer and she also enjoyed her babysitting kids. She enjoyed family time, and she also liked looking up family history, knitting, cross stitching and embroidery.
She was a member of the VFW Auxiliary, and like watching Lawrence Welk on television.
She moved to Wessington Springs in 1989. In May of 2007 she moved to the Aurora/Brule Nursing Home in White Lake, and in January of 2008 she moved to Weskota Manor Nursing Home/Avera Health.
Bernadine is survived by her three sons, Arthur Jr. and his wife Lisa of Wessington Springs, Kevin and his wife Jan of Quinn, S.D., and Scott of Wessington Springs; two grandchildren, Joe of Mitchell and Briana of Huron, and three step-grandchildren, Rickkie, Richard, William; five great-grandchildren, August and Jared Wenzel of Mitchell, and Gianna, Julian and Sophia Rodriguez of Huron; a step great-granddaughter, Shinna of Madison, S.D.; two sisters, Joyce (Gary) Timm of Wolsey and Judy (Rodney) Krueger of Wessington Springs; one brother, David Clark of Wolsey; special friend Evan Muller; and her babysitting kids, whom she loved very much.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur, and five brothers, Tom, Robert, Donald, Jim and Ronnie.
