Funeral services were held Saturday, May 25 at the St. Lawrence Community Church. Burial was at the St. Lawrence Cemetery. Friends and family may sign Barbara’s online register at www.remboldfuneralhome.com.

Barbara Anna Belzer was born March 29, 1938 to Edward James Markle and Ruth Viola (Grinstead) Markle at New Hampton, Iowa. The family moved to Dutton, Mont., to the farm her dad had homesteaded when she was a year old. A sister, Rose Mary and brother, Jim were added to the family. Barbara began her schooling in Dutton, and continued in Great Falls, Mont., when the family moved there because of her dad’s health problems. When Barbara was 11 years old, her father died. Her mother was advised to move the family to Nampa, Idaho, as it was a great place for a young widow lady to raise her family.

Barbara graduated from high school in 1956. She then enrolled in college at NNC (Northwest Nazarene College), where she completed two years of study. It was there she met and married David A Belzer, on June 5, 1958. To this union, three children were born: Dennis, Judith and Edward.

After David finished college, they moved to Aberdeen, S.D., where they pastored the Aberdeen Church of the Nazarene from June 1961 to January 1966. They then moved to Miller, S.D. to pastor the Miller Church of the Nazarene until June 1981. Barbara played the piano and sang with her husband, and was deeply involved in these ministries. From 1981 to 2012, she traveled and shared with her husband, in an itinerant ministry, as they preached in revival meetings and sang in 33 states.

They returned to St Lawrence, S.D. in 2006 to have a retirement home, after spending the majority of the last 30 years living in travel trailers along the roadways of America.

Barbara is survived by her husband, David; her daughter: Judy Nist, Chandler, Ariz.: two sons, Dennis (Ann) Belzer, Chandler, Ariz. and Edward (Lori) Belzer, Colorado Springs, Colo.; grandchildren Jeremy Nist, Dallas, Texas., Andrew Nist, Chandler, Ariz., Nicholas Nist, Chandler, Ariz., and Robyn Belzer, Colorado Springs, Colo. ; her sister, Rose Mary Kauffman, Chandler, Ariz.; sisters-in-law, Carolyn Markle, Fargo, N.D., Karen (Robert) Mangum, Nampa, Idaho, and Ruth Belzer, Minot, N.D.; brothers-in-law, Norman (Lony) Belzer, Windermere, Fla., Wesley (Carol) Belzer, Dallas, Texas, Gordon (Shirley) Belzer, Sherwood, Ore., Charles (Kaye) Belzer, Valley City, N.D., and Robert (Flora) Belzer, Cascade, Idaho. Besides these are many nieces and nephews.

Barbara was preceded in death by her parents; her brother; and two brothers-in-law.
