Anderberg honored

TRAVIS ANDERBERG received the coveted Distinguished Young Pharmacist Award at the annual convention September 13-14 in Sioux Falls. The award was presented by Leann Sonnenschein, representative of the Pharmacists Mutual Insurance Company.

SDPhA awards Distinguished Young Pharmacist

The South Dakota Pharmacists Association has selected Travis Anderberg, Pharm.D. as the recipient of the 2013 Distinguished Young Pharmacist Award. He was chosen to receive the award for his significant contributions to the pharmacy profession at the local, state and national level. He was presented the award at the Association’s 127th Annual Convention at Sioux Falls Ramkota Hotel & Convention Center in Sioux Falls.

In order to be considered for this award, a pharmacist must hold a degree in pharmacy received less than 10 years ago, be licensed to practice in the state in South Dakota, be a member of the state pharmacy association in the year selected, have practiced retail, institutional or consulting pharmacy in the year selected; and participated in a national pharmacy association, professional programs, state association activities and/or community service.

Anderberg graduated from South Dakota State University in 2004. He is currently a co-owner of Miller Rexall Drug, and also provides consultant pharmacy services for Avera Hand County Hospital, the Miller

Good Samaritan Center and the Courtyard Villa Assisted Living.

He’s an active member of the Huron District; Kappa Psi Professional Pharmacy Fraternity; Elder of the First Presbyterian Church of Miller; director on the Quoin Financial Bank board; director of On Hand Economic Development; and director for the Hand County Health, Wellness and Community Foundation, which raised more than one million dollars for the construction of the new Miller hospital.

Anderberg also received the 2011 Distinguished Service Award for Healthcare for dedication in providing health services to people with developmental disabilities, and served as a board member of the Huron Area Center for Independence.

In addition, Anderberg is a director and president of the Miller Golf Course, council member of the Miller Civic and Commerce Committee; Miller Area Booster Club member, is a recipient of the “Caught Doing it Right Award” and he’s a Meals on Wheels Volunteer.

In his “spare time,” he’s also a volunteer coach for youth football, T-ball, baseball, basketball and soccer within the Miller community.

Travis and his wife Angie have four children, Jaden, Shaylee, Kaihlyn, and Brecken.
