Golf team competes at Region Tourney

MHS Golfer Amanda Lewellen qualified for the State Golf Tournament in Brookings May 20-21.

Mother Nature was kind to the golf teams playing in Mobridge on May 13, 2013.

The meet began on schedule with temperatures between 72 and 81 degrees. The tournament progressed without a raindrop.

The Rustlers’ Amanda Lewellen qualified at the Region 5B tournament to go to state competition. Lewellen, a junior at Miller High School, scored a 112.

Also competing for the Rustlers’ was Tate Kettelhut and Wade Gesinger. Kettelhut scored a 108 and Gesinger scored a 138.

State competition was held at Brookings, May 20-21,

    Miller JH track teams place high at Mobridge

    Submitted
    Jarek Kindle, son of Calvin and Erin Kindle, broke the 7th grade triple jump record with a jump of 32 ft. 4 in. This breaks his brother, Carter Kindle’s record of 31 ft. 6 1/2 in. set in 2011.

    Miller junior high boys’ and girls’ track teams scored well at the Central Conference meet May 11 in Mobridge.

    The boys’ team placed first, with 175 points. They were followed by Mobridge Pollock, Chamberlain, Potter County, Faulkton, Sully Buttes and Highmore

    Seventeen qualify for state track meet

    Miller runners Cole Sargent, left, and Mason Breitling, right, competed in the 3200-meter run Thursday at the Region Track Meet in Miller. Breitling won and Sargent placed second, both qualified for the state meet.

    At the high school Region 6A Track Meet at Miller May 16, the girls won regional competition and the boys placed third. Seventeen qualified for the state meet.

    Miller JH shines at Yellow Trails Conference track meet

    Miller junior high track members participated at the Yellow Trails Conference Meet, held May 6 in Eureka.

    Seventeen events were scored in both girls’ and boys’ events. The Miller boys’ team ranked first, with 216 points, and came home with a trophy. Other team rankings were Eureka/Bowdle, 134 points; Potter County, 106 points; Herreid Selby Area, 53 points; Sully Buttes, 33 points; and Wakpala, seven points.

    Miller invite held May 7

    MHS track coach Tom McGough commented on the results of the Miller invitational held Tuesday, May 7. “Finally, we had a decent day for our track athletes to compete. I thought everyone did a good job preparing and competing in their respective event. Our athletes understand where we are and what needs to be done in getting ready for the Region Meet, which will be held in Miller on Thursday, May 16.”

    HAPPY BOWLERS. Wednesday Coralette league winners are, back l to r, Rhonda Rowen, Roxie Zacher, Carolyn Forman and Kim Fanning, for Triple R. Inc., which won the league. Kim Fanning also had association high game and high series, and Wednesday league high game. Zacher had league high handicap series. Front row, Dawn Joy, league high series and high average, association high average; Cheryl Fanning, league high handicap game; and Betty Hammill, most improved average.

    MHS Golfers team participates at Mobridge-Pollock

    The Miller High School golf team participated at the Mobridge-Pollock invite Monday, April 29.

    As the lone girl on the team, Amanda Lewellen’s total score was 104, with last three at 17 and last six at 32.

    Four MHS boys participated. Cory Breland’s total score was 99; Tate Ketelhut’s was 103; Wade Gesinger’s was 120; and Hayden Peterman’s was 135. The team total was 322, and the Miller boys overall came in at eighth place.

    Snow melts just in time for Ipswich Relays

    Jamie Mentzer broke the high jump standard with her 4’ 11” jump at the Ipswich Relays last Saturday. It also earned her second place at the meet.

    We are grateful that we finally were able to have a track meet. MHS athletes took advantage of a nice day to compete at Ipswich on Saturday, April 27.

    Steers qualifies at Huron meet for state

    Steers qualifies at Huron meet for State

    The Miller Rustlers track team participated in the Huron track meet Friday, April 5.

    According to head coach Tom McGough, the track meet gives Miller an opportunity to compete against five excellent AA schools – Aberdeen Central, Pierre, Mitchell, Huron and Watertown. Other teams competing were Redfield and James Valley Christian.
