4-H Notes | Hand-E-Hands

The Hand-E-Hands 4-H club met September 8, 2013 at Marsha Howard’s home. Before the meeting began several members gave presentations. Carter Canham demonstrated how to make Pumpkin Dip, Annie Keeter showed how to make a Fleece Tie Blanket, and Brielee Conkey gave a talk on the Care and Feeding of Goats.

President Megan Fiala called the meeting to order, asking Cy Naber to lead the flag salute. Annie Keeter read the minutes of the previous meeting. Anne Marie Naber gave the treasurer’s report. Carter Canham made a motion that the treasurer’s report be approved and Cy Naber seconded the motion. Motion carried.

In Old Business, members discussed how nice the new lunch stand/restrooms at the 4-H grounds are. Carter Canham made a motion that the club donate $100 to that project. Cy Naber seconded the motion. Motion carried. Members discussed their projects at Achievement Days and the State Fair. Marsha Howard gave a report on the Farmer’s Market, which has now concluded for the season.

In New Business, 4-H record books are due to the Extension Office on September 30. Members should turn them in to the club on September 27. Marsha Howard reviewed the qualifications for awards. This year the 4-H Banquet is scheduled for November 10 at the school commons.

There being no other business, Carter Canham made a motion to adjourn the meeting and Anne Marie Naber seconded the motion. The meeting concluded with Brielee Conkey leading the 4-H pledge. The next meeting will be October 6 at 2:30 with Brielee Conkey hosting. Following the meeting, members enjoyed snacks provided by Carter Canham and Marsha Howard.
